hey now … got word that our UC Davis hammerheads went 1st in the Men’s Div 1, and 4th in the Women’s.  And, lo, STANFORD takes the Women’s.  West Coast Mafia, eh?

that rocks.

here’s a nice blurb (thanks E.O.B & Swatters) ~

This morning the UC Davis men’s squad of Shawn Rosenthal, Tyler Dibble, Paul Mach and Phil Mooney WON the team time trial at the National Collegiate Cycling Championships in Ft. Collins, Colorado, beating CU Boulder by nine seconds. Stanford, last year’s Team Omnium Champion, finished eighth.

Our women’s squad of Amanda Seigle, Marisa McAdler, Amy Encalada and Amy Chandos finished fourth. Stanford’s women won.

Preliminary calculations place the Aggies in first place in the Team Omnium competition after the first day. This weekend the Aggies will compete in a road race on Saturday and a crit on Sunday. I’ll be filing news stories with the local papers on Sunday evening, but I’ll also post updates, quotes, and photos on http://sportclubs.ucdavis.edu/cycling/ as they become available.

suh-weet.

go get ‘em, you hounds!

Certainly not to take any applause away from Davis and their accomplishments, I do have to highlight how freaking awesome this is especially for the Stanford women.
While, in the past, we’ve had some standouts come from our team (Freedman, Thorburn, Rais) just three years ago there were just three of us consistently racing/making up the women’s squad (me, Alicia, and Sasha) — that’s WB and WA cats combined. In just three years, with the help of energetic alums (Katie Berhoozi, Dawn Nessier to name just two), Amber Rais (last year’s women’s squad asst. coach and all-around rock) and Shelley Olds (this year’s women’s coach) the squad now has deep WA and WB teams who graciously work with and for each other. It’s really been awesome to see. Keep it up ladies!

Did Paul Mach finally shave his legs? And what’s the story behind the pink booties?

For all the juicy details on what Paul is shaving these days you should be reading http://www.paulmach.com

Also, this is Tyler’s year for the crit jersey, but don’t tell him I said so.
