Kern County Women’s Stage Race this weekend!!!

May 12th, 2008

linda_digsdeep.jpgHey Folks … i know this has snuck up on us all …

But KERN COUNTY is up and running this weekend. There’s still time to reg on-line if you want.

A bunch of us guys have worked support for this event the past couple years and are planning to rip it up solid again for this edition. You crazy-ass femmes who show up will get COLD WATER feeds in all the races, cheering sections of scantily clad boys, and the always crowd pleasing awards ceremonies where nobody leaves without a trinket or two.

What a time, what a time.

Now, it’s true the flyer out doesn’t have all the best directions available - but trust me, if you show up for the Friday Time Trial … there will be a detailed (a … Lieboldian detailed) race bible that will give all the information needed for the weekend’s events.

woody_winners.jpgThis year’s courses are looking good and I can’t wait to head out there to do some serious rah-rah’ing and heckling of my favorites.

Give a shout out if you’re headed over … it’s one of the most epic events you’ll do in your lifetime. And, the finishing ratio is in the 95+ percentiles … and trust me, if you finish this thing ~ you’ll be changed as a rider.

there’s child birth,

and then there’s Kern.

the shit that makes women tougher than us boys.

see you there,

I downloaded Sabine’s GPS tracks - thanks for the recon!

You will have to school Rick on proper heckling and ’scantily-clad’ techniques for the race supporting men-folk. Also, he might enjoy a ride at some point if you boys arrange anything like that….

Can’t wait!! I’ll be there for all the pain and suffering….and oh, fun, too! It will be the new (good karma, anti-crashing) bike’s maiden race :)

Yep, I will be there as part of the hecklin’ crowd, but having me scantily clad may be put-off to any women thinking of registering. But given the weather report, scantily clad will be a necessity …..

This will be the first time, since I started racing, that I will miss Kern. Too much work with the end of the semester and all… Stay safe and upright Kim!

    Have a blast everyone!

Heather–sorry you’ll miss Kern!!!! Anyway thanks for the well wishes–I have been a lightning rod for bad luck lately…but I’m most POSITIVE that all that is behind me! :) I also took the last couple of weekends off from racing to ENJOY the bike again, and it has worked wonders.

The forecast for Kern is HOT HOT HOT!

I have tried the child birth thing, even twins, and was looking forward to trying Kern!
Really bummed that I am injured and can’t make it. Had Robert lined up to help out and everything.

    Have a great time.

Jan Jan (with camera and scooter) and I (with bike and RV) will be there. Jan is a Kern virgin, so I’m really looking forward to showing her all the coolness (or hotness, depending on whether you think in metaphors or degrees farenheit) of the KCWSR.
See y’all on Friday next to the railroad tracks. I’ll be wearing a pointy hat on one of them frisbee wheel fast bikes.
