this is the remnants of the crash of the field sprint at Philly. Webcor’s Holcomb got the worst of it, but she looked clear and present last time i saw her. Hard crash. That’s her bike i’m taking off the rider a good 10 meters in front of her. (pic is SabineDukes’, of course)

Amber Rais had finished her leadout (perfectly, might i emphasize … again) and was victim to the eventual “push” of the crash that started on Holcomb’s side of the road, but eventually had ramifications to Rais’s side of the road.

The crash occurred a bit down the peloton … just bike racing.

amazing race on Sunday. Those women were flying.

Which leads me to many thoughts but few moments free to sit and type them out for perusal by any interested.

in the meantime, can i do a bit of promoting?

Let me just add that it is a fun time at the velodrome even if you’re not racing! I happened to be in the area last time and just went to check it out, and ended up getting hoarse from screaming, catching up with friends, and all-in-all having a great time! Now I just want to 1. live closer to a track, and 2. have a track bike!

So go check it out! It is really really fun!!!!

I was just going to post what Kim just said: even racers who aren’t racing that night can have a great time just spectating (and it’s less painful and you don’t have to shower when you get home — well, maybe, if you’re hugged by sweaty racers).

It’s worth the drive. I’m sad I won’t be able to make this one — heading to Vancouver that day.

Off-topic but maybe for later: will Calfee make a frame out of paper (http://sciencenow.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/2008/609/1?)?
