Lately i’ve been slacking in my updates, ramblings … fiascos in hyperbole on this here website.  Some will know that they are omissions by circumstance, not intention.  And so quickly, while the clock is hidden from the wage-slaves ~

oliviad.jpgOlivia Dillon … Irish Time Trial Champion

yeah, that’s right ~ Touchstone’s hard workin’ woman, OliviaD grabbed the national championship by a handful of seconds.  That is just golden, folks.

Right now, Touchstone is a program with a lot of momentum.  It’s a squad that loves to develop riders and give them a platform to showcase themselves for the larger, national caliber squads that scout out upcoming talent.  Jill McLaughlin, Bev Harper, Stacey Marple, and more are riders who have benefited from the Touchstone touch.

I see a strong showing from these women up in Cascade this week.

    newell_nator.jpgBeth Newell … the dominator

From the early days of being an unknown orangcicle-clad panty wearer on the interwebs … to her new found stardom as a track rider with potential ~ Beth Newell has sparked interest in women’s track racing like only a rare few can.

At Hellyer we have star-power drawing in media and global interest.  We’re talking about riders like Shelley Olds and Mary Maroon.  But, what Beth Newell brings to the velodrome is this unbelievable sense of … “maybe i can do it, too”.

She’s the every woman’s champion … low-key, irreverent, saucy, unpredictable, approachable, and growing into one of the best all-around track riders you’ll ever see.  She’s still got tons of work to do … but in a few years, we’ll have yet another World Cup caliber athlete coming out of NorCal.

    hell yeah.

    le Tour

if you’re not giving this year’s Tour a chance … rethink it.

those Frenchies are letting us know again why the book can never be eclipsed by one chapter.

doubleick.jpgcheck it out, yo.  but … for just a minute can we talk about the over-board’itis of the bubble helmets these cats are using for the races against the clock?

i mean, come’on … fashion can only be discarded so far when we talk of aerodynamicals and frontal lobes.

schumaker ~ winner of today’s huge time trial and donner of the golden fleece.

looks like somebody pooped a baby-blue tear drop on the head of an anorexic muppet.

    what a ride.

Large Specialized helmets just look big. The new S lid on Evans looked much sleeker, but not sleek enough for the win. Specialized dropped the ball, though, not putting those boys in baby blue on up-to-date Transitions.

That said, this win did draw attention to the Frenchies hypocrisies again. Boonen’s party escapades gets him uninvited, but the new boy in Yellow had his own issues with last year’s post-world nose candy celebrations.

Ah well, it’s the Tour, and it’s got me addicted too much to dwell on the twisted Frenchie logic.

I think the TT frames the Gerol-boys were using were rebadged Walser’s: http://www.walser-cycles.ch/

And he is on the old Specialized TT frame, not the new Transition.

Not disagreein’ about anything said Beth-related but… “dominator” is the male form of the word. The female form? You got it — dominatrix. Chew your rubber gag on that.

Something tells me that Beth has a few of those stashed under the bed. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised to see a swing mount from her ceiling either. She is just sick like that…..

I couldnt agree more about the TT helmets. They are so faulking ridiculous looking. I’m embarrassed watching the coverage with people who arent afficionados – when those bulbous monstrosities are propped atop the noodle necked geeks I so adore. “Comb the desert!”

PS: Those were Peruvian candy chews from Boonens Nanna he was snorting.

Am I completely mistaken, or did Versus dub in the sound of the same TT wheel for every rider on Tuesday morning? Same exact tempo, no matter the cadence of the rider. Even if they were freewheeling around a traffic circle. Or my favorite, even if it was a shot from the helicopter. whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh
