Surf’s Up, Kitty … surf’s up

September 5th, 2008

Lovely Linda Locke (the one in blue) … had herself a spill at the track last night.  She took the ambulance ride for the hell of it ~ to where they treat SanJose gang’ers under cop’er care.

-

coupla’ fractures to the pgirdle … but heal-able.

gracias, for that.

. . . . .

seeing that pic, and then drifting over to more of Lauren’s … i’m reminded of how much work Linda does every Surf City.

crazytalk.

She’s there all day long ~ setting up KiddieCross, or pounding stakes with us out on the A-dults course, or cleaning the 3tons of mayhem afterwards … wadding up football fields of marking tape, lugging 5lb sledges over hill and dale … doing it all.

Surf City is in honor of Linda this year … and folks like Linda.  Few, but loved dearly.

see you there. (details soon)

Yup, Linda took an ugly tumble into the bank. Flyin’ bike and all that. I am so relieved to hear that those lovely bones are gonna be ok. Heal up fast, Linda.

and Lauren, it’s less crashing then what happens in cyclocross … unfortunately, the damage is much worse. stupid fixed gear pile-drivers.

but really, it’s incredibly safe out there on the track. just every once in awhile we have the bangups.

part of the deal, i suppose. but, we’re also working very, very hard at Hellyer to improve rider education, safety, and ability to race!

    i love it.

Linda is doing great! She was waiting for an ortho and PT to come visit her so she can be released. The good news is that her fractures appear to be nondisplaced, so she should be up and at em again in no time!

linda’s napping now so I was able to pry
the iPhone out of her hands… Still waiting
to hear from the doc… But probably no
    surgery needed. Yeah!

Yeah, on the no surgery needed concept. Boo on getting injured.

    What a bummer!

Heal fast Linda. Being laid up is not all that great.

I love being part of this wonderful cycling community. Thank you to everyone for all the support and help last night. I should go home tomorrow, and the doc said no surgery. If all goes well, I’ll be able add Kern 13 to my resume.
