    My own personal idahoes …

yeah, it’s time for me to shout out a bit of wah-waah.

Yesterday i was hit by a car and the poor bastard was: a) a veteran, b) poor and living paycheck to paycheck, c) had a deductible out of range on his crap-insurance, d) was old and part messican.

so … needless to say -i took my wounds and bike damage home to lick on my own.

of course, that was AFTER i gave him about half-an-hour of edu-ma-kation on how to drive his car WITH bicycles on the road.  i emphasized to him that if it’d been a 12 year-old kid, or a 50 year-old woman on a bike that he’d hit … they’d likely be in the hospital and his every belonging at risk of being snapped up by civil law-yers.

he understood. he felt really, really bad.  he hugged me afterwards.

and now i go about healing up, fixing up, moving on to the next door…

Maaan, sorry to hear. Don’t you know you have to throw yourself at the late-model BMWs?

But seriously, folks… heal up, hope the wounds will leave only a few and sexy scars.

And cheers to your instinct for empathy. Putting yourself in your antagonist’s position is a good thing and can make the world a better place.
