Menlo GP – “sponsor” blues

KEEP THE MENLO GP ALIVE!
I’ve been announcing (like crap) for the Menlo Park Grand Prix the past couple years – and I want there to be one next year so i can improve!. In ’09, VeloGirls pulled out the stops and created an exceptional event after securing advertising dollars from a few select NorCal organizations and businesses.
Unfortunately, the presenting sponsor went belly-up and left VeloGirls holding a sizable chunk of cash missing from the books.
The presenting sponsor of the Tri-Flow Menlo Park Grand Prix presented by Hawk Relay has defaulted on their $5,000 sponsorship for the race. Spending decisions were made based on that sponsorship, including the addition of a third women’s race this year. VeloGirls has been able to cover all expenses except one bill to the City of Menlo Park for $4,000. If we can’t pay this bill, Menlo Park will not grant us permission to have this race again in 2010.
VeloGirls does not have a big fat savings account to draw on to cover this defaulted sponsorship. So, we’re asking friends in the cycling community to help SAVE THE MENLO PARK GRAND PRIX. Each small donation will help pay this last outstanding bill and allow us to promote this race in the future.
A note regarding Fundable.com. The goal is to raise $5,000, the amount of the defaulted sponsorship. The posted goal on Fundable.com is $1000. No donations will be collected unless we meet this $1000 minimum.
If you prefer to make a donation by check, email me at Lorri@velogirls.com for details.
Thank you everyone!

just a quick shout-out of thanks to everyone who’s made a donation to help us with the Menlo Park Grand Prix. in just about 24 hours, we’ve raised $2,500. this is such a great community of cyclists and we truly appreciate your support as clubs and as individuals.

oh, and I would just like everyone to know that Tri-Flow IS NOT the defaulting sponsor.
