Crit- They raced the 1,2 and 3 all together which made for a big field. Ali Starnes in her return to racing after a concussion at Pan Am Games attacked on the first lap.  The field let her hang out there for a while before she was brought back.  Starnes then went to sit on the front and tow the bunch around for most of the rest of the race. Kira rode in good position near the front all race. In the second to last corner there was a crash back in the field, someone possibly broke collarbone. Kira put in a good sprint win. Looked like a good training ride for Ali Starnes.

TT – Ali apparently broke the course record. Molly started behind her, and rode a personal best, but it wasn’t quite  enough for the win.

Once again, if you are not following Evan Huffman’s mother on twitter you are missing some of the best race updates on local stuff going.  Follow her at @regulorry on Twitter.  Regardless of what rand saysEvan Huffman’s a pretty good follow too for race updates from guy that’s winning some big races.  After moving into second behind Optum’s Michael Creed, Evan Huffman took the race lead from Nate English.  Cal Giant was able to defend Huffman’s lead despite some lap counting shenanigans which livened up the race on the last two laps.  Lap counting is a stressful job, no reward for getting it right and the wrath of millions when you screw it up.  Trying to catch up with folks on the road race but Huffman tweeted after the race that he’d lost the lead on the final stage to the Optum squad.

    Evan Huffman ? @evanhuffman
rough day for @calgiantcycling at #madera some small mistakes, but did the best we could, made @OPTUMpbKBS take it from us #stilllearning

Down at the Tour de Murietta Emily Kachorek (Primal-Map My Ride) held strong and finished second in the GC.  Her partner in crime, Liza Rachetto, was as able to sneak on the the podium in fifth place.  On the final stage, the Rabobank Circuit Race, Mary-Ellen Ash (Steven’s Bikes) took second demonstrating her top end speed is going to be competitive in bigger and badder races this year.
