    1 September 2012

The Challenge Road Race is complete and two events remain for the 2012 Cal Cup. Justin Rossi (Marc Pro-Strava) finished in eighth place and in doing so has captured the Cal Cup for Men Pro-1-2. Max Jenkins (Competitive Cyclist Racing Team) was today’s category winner.

The win by Felicia Gomez (Pinnacle Women’s Racing) launches her into third place for Women 1-2-3. There are seven women racers in contention for the Cal Cup although today’s second place by Amy Thornquist (Steven’s Bikes p/b Pactimo) leaves her in a strong position with a 15-point lead.

Josh Dapice (Audi) won the race for Master 35+ 1-2-3 and he joins four other racers in contention for the series crown. Jonathan Eropkin (SAFEWAY/GA ORC Group/Bicycles Plus) took second in the category to bring him within seven points of the leader, Michael Buckley (Morgan Stanley).

The win in Cat 3 by Matt Rodrigues (Davis Bike Club Race Team) takes him within six points of Trevor Gomes (Delta Velo/Michael David Winery Racing Team) and the series lead. The only other racer in contention for Cat 3 is Dan Teford (SquadraSF); he will need top results and help to overcome a 28-point deficit with only 30 points remaining.
