This years Seventh Annual Lion of Fairfax CX race is different. Not bad different, good different. Awesome different. Rad different. Due to construction at White Hill Middle School, the race’s traditional location, organizers have moved it to a different venue in order to continue one of the fastest growing CX events in NorCal. Not wanting to give up a great run for a successful race, an alternate venue was found at Dan Foley Park in nearby Vallejo, CA. Dan Foley has never had a CX race, which is surprising since the park is practically laid out with CX in mind.
A fast moving, technical 1.75 mile loop will feature a couple of short climbs, two small run-up and lot’s of fun bits that are technical and fast. Food and beverage will both be available on site so racers can enjoy heckling their friends after their own race is finished. Ample parking and easy-on / easy-off access from both CA 37 and I80 make this race a breeze to get to from anywhere in the Bay Area or Napa and Sonoma counties.
Portions of the proceeds go to benefit White Hill Middle School and the Dan Foley Park in hopes of supporting both venues. Come check out what promises to be a fantastic new course and have your money make a difference too! Saturday, October 20th. Races start at 8:00. A modified loop has been set up for the 15 minute kids race as well so it’ll be fun for the whole family. Sponsors of this years event include BIG SWINGING CYCLES, Dolore Grotta Racing, Cedar Cycling, Sport Beans, Alaskan Amber, CX Nation, Bike Monkey and Superpro Racing.
