Amgen Tour of California is willing to open conversations to a proposed 3 Days Stage Race for the women in 2013.  The proposed stage races will be held in Northern California.  NorCal CyclingNews have been in communication with Nicola Cranmer for inquiry.  A campaign was developed from a vision of making a Womens Stage Race a reality in the Amgen Tour of California 2013.

Amgen Tour of California’s response to the campaign, “We will continue to support women’s cycling and are willing to open conversations in the new year.”

In the recent commendable work done by the UCI and an announcement earlier today by the UCI approving equal prize money for men and women in World Championship races except Time Trials, the future looks bright for womens professional cycling.  It is a historic moment and we thank the UCI for their tireless work in making equal prize for men and women possible.  A big step for the UCI in support for womens professional cycling.

The Ladies Amgen Tour of California will be another historic moment.

    Proposed NorCal Stage Races are:

    1. Stage 6: Friday, May 17 – San Jose (Ladies Team Time Trial)
    2. Stage 7: Saturday, May 18 – Livermore to Mt. Diablo, Queen of the Mountain
    3. Stage 8: Sunday, May 19 – San Francisco to Santa Rosa, Sprinters
