The Pre-Season races are winding down as the NorCal Spring Classic’s get under way with Snelling and Merco in the coming weeks. Here are a few tid-bits and links gleaned from the interweb over the weekend. It’s not really reporting but if you are reading this you are probably only slightly lazier than I am and appreciate the curation.
Marc Pro Strava (MPS) is becoming a go to source for race results. They are getting results and are disciplined about getting them posted. With Chuck Hutcheson making the jump back to MPS they will be in the news a lot. Flavia Oliveira took the women’s race, meaning she’s added some crit legs to her repertoire.
2013 Copper Town Circuit Race #1 results are up. Josh Carling 1st (Team Bicycles Plus/Sierra Nevada), Chuck Hutcheson 2nd (Marc Pro – Strava), Willie Myers 3rd (Fremont Bank Cycling Team)https://www.usacycling.org/results/index.php?permit=2013-225 – Marc Pro Facebook Page
Pinnacle p/b Argon 18 at Pine Flat Road Race. Small field, good race. Pinnacle earns top three spots. Tanja Meyer1st, Amy Thornquist 2nd, Felicia Gomez 3rd, Juliette Olson 5th, Rhonda Serr 6th. Rhonda and Jules killed it early with attacks and counters to set up a 35 mile break by the top three. — with Jennifer Marie Zierke and 2 others. – Bill Nicely on Facebook
In the men’s race is was Adrien Costa taking the top spot. I’m not sure the kid is even 16 yet. That’s gonna be some trouble. Shout out to NCCN contributor Harland-Dunaway for making the podium.
2013 Pine Flat Road Race results just rolled in. Adrien Costa 1st (Slipstream-Craddock Junior Development), Vinnie Owens 2nd (Sierra Pacific Racing p/b Dayka-Hackett), Chris Harland-Dunaway 3rd (Marc Pro – Strava).http://www.usacycling.org/results/?permit=2013-289 – Marc Pro Facebook Page
So many good NorCal performances. Obviously the win in both the Men’s race by Ben Jacque-Maynes (Jamis Hagens Berman p/b Sutter Home) and in the Women’s race by Alison Tetrick (Exergy TWENTY16) are huge. Tetrick’s win by almost a minute in the TT was a pretty dominating performance for a February tune up race. She should be fire on a bike come Merco, Redlands and San Dimas. Molly Van Houweling (Metromint) demonstrated she is still on the top of her game with a third place finish in the TT and GC. Van Houweling’s Metromint teammate Lisa Mueller, a NorCal emigre, got on the board with a second place finish in the crit. Merco is shaping up to be looking like a sweet showdown of the women’s peloton and with the way she’s riding Tetrick will be fighting for the win.
