Note: I really wish more people would do this stage race and im looking forward to its’ continued growth as i feel its run well and the scenery is really beautiful and and the roads are safe with very little traffic.
Final results will be posted tonight and I had no access to the results but I knew that Lisa Mueller of Metromint had won the Pro/1/2 Women, and I learned that Keith Hillier (Marc Pro Strava) won the Pro 1/2 Mens race.
The women’s race got off to a quick start with lots of attacks from Metromint after one lap. Metromint was the most dominant team and rode in force. The winning attack, which came early on in the race, included Mueller and Kim Wick who built a significant lead. “I attacked with Kim Wick early and then rode solo from before the rollers til the finish,” said Mueller on her performance. “It was a killer ITT!! I kept trying to channel my inner Alison Tetrick.”
Keith Hillier (Marc Pro Strava) broke down the pro mens race when asked how things unfolded.
“Chris HD (Marc Pro Strava) made the break from mile 1 with almost all teams represented. This allowed a lot of resting in the pack. The final time up the climb on the dirt I just followed wheels and the field was shattering. Finally I caught the 3 breakawayers and we started playing games since both Roman (Mikes) and I had teamies in the break). Chris HD told me to sprint, I did, and was able to hold off Roman and another Specialized rider”

From what I can remember from last year, this year the course was definitely a little different. The temperatures were a little cooler, there was more of a breeze, and the gravel not so bad. One of the most spectacular things about being at road races that are in open areas is being able to see the pelotons from afar as they approach you and how they echelon, break off, or change according to the wind.
Chris Harland-Dunaway of Marc Pro – Strava was in the break with Roman Kilun of Mike’s Bikes for both laps and worked hard to keep the pace high. In the end his team mate Keith Hillier not only bridged up to the break, but secured first place.
Lisa Mueller from Metromint had a clear gain by several minutes by the time she reached the gravel section at the end of the course.
