    NorCal at Mt Hood

    Eric Riggs (Team Mike’s Bikes p/b Incase) won Stage 1 of the 2013 Mt Hood Cycling Classic, the 138Km Columbia Hills Road Race. Cal Giant/Specialized placed five riders in the top twenty including Sam Bassetti in eleventh.

    The second highest placed teenager was Bear Development Team’s Bryan Duke in nineteenth. Duke is within a minute of the general classification lead in an event where he hopes to place well.

    Roman Kilun (Team Mike’s Bikes p/b Incase) rounded out the top twenty.

    Alison Tetrick (Exergy TWENTY16) finished fourth in the 90Km-version Women’s race just ahead of Amy Thornquist (Pinnacle p/b Argon 18). Fiona Strouts (Folsom Bike/Cervelo) crossed the line in ninth.

    Katie Hall (Metromint Cycling) took sixth place. The Mariposa Women’s Stage Race winner also won QOM as NorCal racers took three of the top five QOM positions. Thornquist finished in second with three points to Hall’s five. Molly Van Houweling (Metromint Cycling) earned two points and fifth in the general QOM.

    Tetrick and Thornquist are joint fourth in the general classification, 12 seconds off the pace set by Anne Donley (Rise Above Racing). Hall is a further 5 seconds behind.

    Metromint have two other riders in the top twenty with Julie Bellerose in seventeenth and Tina Hughes in twentieth. Strouts, Bellerose, Hughes, and Van Houweling are 20 seconds behind in the overall standings.
