BEND, OR–Five inches of fresh snow turned the finely crafted course on the grounds of the Deschutes Brewery into a glorious drift-fest.

By Saturday afternoon, the Elite Men and Women took to the track for some C1 racing on the luge track around the brewery. For those who ever doubted how NorCal’s CX radness take a gander at the results from the women’s race. Residents of our fair region took three of the top five spots with Katerina Nash (Luna Pro Team) getting the win, while Elle Anderson (Cal Giant-Specialized) and Rachel Lloyd (Cal Giant-Specialized) rode to third and fourth respectively. Other solid finishes came from Emily Kachorek (#Ghetomoto) in 12th, Carolina Gomez Villafane (Rambuski Law-Family Cycling Center) in 13th and Katie Jay Melena finishing 15th as six NorCal riders snagged coveted UCI points in Bend.

On the men’s side, Cody Kaiser (Cal Giant-Specialized) snagged 12th place while Scott Chapin (Bicycle Blue Book-Rock Lobster) came across in 22nd finishing on the lead lap with icicles dangling from his frozen mustache.

Most importantly, NorCal crushed the post race celebrations at the Summit Bar in downtown Bend,  with Rock Lobster, MASH, Rambuski Law and Luna Pro Team members taking the dance party by a dominant margin.
