We get stoked when any of our subjects, or contributors, steps up to another level. Early last January Drew Juiliano, who provided all kinds of great CX coverage this fall, moved south of the border to take a full time job at H3 Publications, the purveyors of Decline and Road magazines. The only downside is Drew had to move to SoCal. If you might be interested in contributing to NCCN drop us a line and we will set it up!
Valencia, California (Jan. 13, 2014) – H3 Publications welcomes Andrew Juiliano as the newest member of the editorial staff. He will be writing and editing for ROAD and decline magazines.
Philly born and New Jersey raised, Juiliano moved to a Santa Cruz garage in 2007, drawn by the promises of year round surf and redwood lined single track. He took the Jack London approach to his early 20’s, working as a line cook, EMT, tree trimmer, landscaper and oyster schucker before settling into a career as a freelance adventure writer. His work has appeared in numerous publications over the years, from online to print, spanning the road, ‘cross and mountain bike spectrum.
Drew Rohde, editor at decline, commented on H3’s newest member. “We decided having one afro in the office [Dave House – Publisher] wasn’t enough so we sought out another hair farmer, but one that actually knows how to ride a bike. I look forward to seeing what his helmet-hair will look like. Plus, I heard he’s a grammar nerd so maybe he’ll catch some typos.”
“We’re very excited to have Andrew [Juiliano] on board,” said Dillon Clapp, ROAD’s creative director. “His enthusiasm for the sport combined with his creativity will undoubtedly add a fresh dose of originality to the pages of the ROAD.”
Juiliano spent the 2013 season racing enduro and ‘cross events for Rock Lobster Cycles. The highlight of his season came at the Super Cross Cup in Stony Point, New York where he did not get lapped by Tim Johnson and collected a $20 check courtesy of the UCI in the process.
Juiliano spoke about joining the H3 Publications team – “I’m thrilled about the new position and look forward to bringing my love of two wheels and strange fascination with verbs to the pages of ROAD and decline.”
