Bike Riders gone wild …
The Saturday Sacramento Prologue is going to be straight up cuh-razy town. 2.4 miles of 120% balls-to-walls action with a chance to wear the leader’s jersey in one of the most beautiful bike races in the world.
awwww yeah … there’s gonna be some hombres pullin’ out the 9s for that.
.
First riders roling out at 1:30pm … plenty of time for us locals to partake in a spoonful of activities dishin’ round that day ~ and still get back with plenty of daylight to watch the pros burn chamois around the streets of Sacto.
.
Santa Rosa is putting on one helluva weekend … a cross race, big screen pub action for the prologue, scavenger parties with bikelove, and even a fundraiser with Paul Sherwin … right on.
Apparently, there’s also going to be a GOLDSPRINT townburning on Sunday night ~ and our own underground sooperstar, Beth ‘keirin cut’ Newell has laid down the fat challenge to that pasty-poofter owner of RockRacing, Michael Ball.
.
Let’s see if he grows the nuggets to show up and do the sprint/chug dance with our mistress of madness.

Speaking of track, it was cool to see BJM talking track and how it makes him a better road racer. Hellyeah … and our local track season will be revving up soon, folks.
Can’t wait.

But back to the Prologue ~
2.4 miles of speed, pegged to 11, make yourself puke out your ears suffering. Who’s gonna be taking the win that day?
Of course, cash has to be on big FabboCancellara … he seems to eat prologue’s for breakfast. But, who knows … maybe the big man is cutting back on his prologeeO’s and switching his morning meals to capn’ uphill crunch, again. Maybe he’s going to be a guy actually shooting for the overall this year?
I think it’s parting with cash by betting against him as a GC winner of a one-week tour.
.
But, as to the Prologue winner and wearer of California’s first golden jersey … my money’s on Mark Cavendish. I think he’s gonna have legs of thunder after going through hell in the deserts of Qatar this week.
I reckon he’ll get over to Cali in time to ditch the jetlag and be just rested enough from all those killer crosswinds and man-eating eschelons to put in 5 minutes of pure, unadulterated speed.
Cavendish for the win …’cuz he does track.

Marky Marky, I don’t think so…did you forget the unfortunate incident on the wii? I think he’s a bit behind schedule right now.

oh and if any trackie could take the Cali prologue…I’d go with Wiggins too bad he won’t be here. Can’t count out Thor, Farrar, and Cozza for top 10 along with BJM.

Youa re on, and wine it is.
Marky was missing the breaks and getting caught out in the wind until yesterday.
Hey, I think it is super sad about the young Belgian found dead in Quatar, and I surely hope this is not a drug related death like the Dutch in the 90s.

I’d LOVE to see Farrar grab the win at the prologue. He was close last year, but who knows how it will roll this year.
.
yeah, the Belgian youngster dying in his sleep is crazy. it’s tragic, and it makes it even more so that the first reaction forced from our memories are those EPO’blood clogged deaths a decade ago.
.
sad.
