Early this morning Ken Louder, who were were previously informed was likely to take over the assets of Sportsbase Online, left the following note in the comments section of NorCalCyclingnews.com. We are in the process of confirming but so far is looks legit:
I understand the emotions and reactions provoked by the demise of SportsBaseOnline. We have all suffered and been challenged. Without attempting to change any opinions, let me add the fact that every event organizer has been sent a check for the exact amount they agreed in writing was owed. Thank you very much to all of the big majority of you who remained patient and supportive. Tailwinds, Ken Louder
About a month ago I received a call from Dirk Cowley, who provided a verbal statement which had been vetted by lawyers. In it he stated they had been working to confirm the amount they owed each individual promoter. At the same time several promoters informed be they were no longer part of any suit or action against the organization, while several others had said they were still waiting to be reimbursed. While it sounded like an unmitigated mess, it would appear from the statement above that the sad episode is finally over.
My expectation at this point is that those promoters, club owners, etc who were lower on the totem pole have been paid the outstanding amount they are owed. Assuming this process has satisfied the needs of both the big and large operations this is great news. Kudo’s to Cowley, and Louder, for taking care of their former clients in spite of the challenges in doing so. Clearning up the pieces of a failed business is taxing, sad, and obviously not fun. Doing the right thing is even harder.
If you are a promoter and have an interesting story to tell contact us at . The stress of a situation like this is something that everyday riders should be aware of, and ultimately should make them more thankful for the work that you do.
