District Championships have move to one of the bay area’s best course and one of the few road races on the Peninsula, the Pescadero Coastal Classic. In order to try and bring out the big names Alto Velo increased the women’s purse to almost $2000. The men still are competing for a measly $600 which will likely be split in some form between Nate English (Yahoo!) and a flotilla of Cal Giant riders.
The womens race which is going to pay 20 deep currently only has 16 riders registered. Assuming the rest of the P123 riders are going to show up at the last minute it should still prove to be a hard day with riders like Van Houweling (Metromint), and Carlee Taylor (Tibco) try to unseat the districts hottest road racer of the year Bec Werner (Webcor.)
If you are just visiting drive over to San Gregorio, find parking spot, and ride the course while cheering on your districts finest. It should be a beautiful day for a coastal classic.
