sidewaysrain

Congratulations to anybody that made it out.  Many races were cancelled on the weekend (Wards Ferry, Colfax, Hellyer) due to inclement weather so kudo’s to the hard core men and women who braved the rain, wind, and snow to race their bikes in epic weather.

Beat the Clock

The local training race was run with snow and ice on the ground creating some epic TT conditions for the brave few that managed to get up there. TIme’s were not fast but experience won as Steve Palladino (55) took the men’s division and Camille DeLuca Flaherty (54) took the women’s division.   Check out the crazy pictures and nutty triathlete with sleeveless skin suit!

CCCX #4

Logan Loader took the men’s race, no surprises there, and Devon (formerly Haskell) Gorry took the women’s race.  Logan and Devon, who will be guest riding for Webcor, look ready to rip it up at Redlands in the next few weeks.  On a side note… i think CCCX should name the loops they do to give the various courses more cache.  The Devils Loop, or Hangmans Finish, or Army Road, would all have a better ring to them than just CCCX #4.  I think everybody would rather say I won the Electric Chair Race rather than a series number.  You have guys have get a good turn out… give those loops some names.

Regalado RR & Salinas Crit

No word on Regalado RR or Salinas Crit but Rand Miller looks like he took the war to the nut jobs in SoCal this weekend.  Normally this would be an opportunity to mock him but seeing as how we are trying to escalate our war of words all I can say is

“Well done! Thanks for showing SoCal they suck Rand!”

UPDATE: Found some good coverage from Dan Connelly on the Ruota Libera SF Bike show this weekend

The Salinas Crit was a little light on attendance, but a few races were full of kids of all ages having fun racing bikes.
Low key, but a pretty nice course and no reason why this race could not be pretty big when scuba gear is not required. Amazing attendance(considering the weather) and solid racing by the juniors, the really made the day worthwhile. I think this race happens again later–good event to attend when there are no high wind and flood warnings!
