The latest Aussie cycling venture to enter the race to be the first Aussie ProTour team, being headed up by the Red Rooster CEO, Darren Stanbridge, has made overtures to the Cal-Giant program to become their US flank. ”Cal-Giant has created a program that represents everything we believe in,” said Stanbridge “They espouse a healthy lifestyle, youth mentorship, respect for experience, and most importantly they dress up in red, white and blue. We believe the future of Australian cycling and the Protour lie in America.”
When contacted for comment Cal-Giant Tony expressed some reservations based on how the Pegasus project turned out, but was hopeful they could come to terms. ”It would be cool to actually have a budget. If i didn’t have to send Reaney to El Camino every day with a flat of strawberries to raise travel money he might stop entering masters races for a while.”
Stanbridge was last seen at LAX on his way to Redlands to catch up with the Cal-Giant team and see if they could finalize deal terms.
