“With My Own Two Wheels” Returns to NorCal;
Raising awareness about the bicycle as a vehicle for change

SANTA BARBARA, CA, May 4, 2011 – With My Own Two Wheels, an award-winning documentary about the bicycle as a vehicle for change around the world, is coming back home to the Bay Area. Directed by UC Berkeley and Cal Cycling alums Jacob and Isaac Seigel-Boettner, Two Wheels weaves together the stories of five individuals across the globe into a single narrative about the bicycle as a vehicle for change. The documentary was shot on location in Zambia, Ghana, India, Guatemala and California and was produced in collaboration with bicycle-driven development organizations including World Bike Relief and Bikes Not Bombs.

The film is screening at the following NorCal venues during the month of May:

5/7 – Walnut Creek
4:00 PM – Walnut Creek Sports Basement

5/13 – Berkeley
7:00 PM – Trummer Pils Brauerei – Part of the East Bay Bike Coalition Bike-In Movie Night

5/15 – San Rafael
6:30 PM – The MYC, San Rafael

5/16 – Davis
8:30 PM – Davis Varsity Theatre – Hosted by Tour of California announcer Dave Towle

5/17 – San Francisco
6:00 PM, 7:30 PM – Presidio Sports Basement

Screenings will benefit World Bicycle Relief and local bike organizations like the East Bay Bike Coalition, The Bicycle Works, and Women on Wheels.

The ?lm has been of?cially selected by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, Mountain?lm Festival in Telluride, and Projecting Change Film Festival in Vancouver. With My Own Two Wheels was nominated for the Social Justice Award in Documentary Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Beyond the festival circuit, the ?lmmakers are currently on a grassroots screening tour with World Bicycle Relief aimed at both raising awareness about the bicycle as a vehicle for change, and raising funds to help get bicycles to those who need them the most, both in developing countries and our own communities. Thus far the ?lm has been seen by over 3,000 people at screenings everywhere from Portland, ME to Honolulu, HI.
