As shown by the numbers Bay Area cx racers can’t even motivate to make a short drive to race in Santa Rosa. How is it then that people are going to drive as far away as Bakersfield? That’s like saying to so. cal., come on up and race against us but the race is in Redding.

Given that i receive jack shit from local promoters and get a full on press release from some random SoCal dude I’d say he might be slightly more on his game. What ever the reason Murph took down a big crew last year and made it an event, I think NorCal won a bunch of the elite races.
Random dude a.k.a Sam Ames a.k.a promoter…and also a former Santa Cruz saw dust pile/giant tree conquerer back in the Leibold days of cross…ah, super bitchen hard races. Nor Cal cross made me….ask Myrah, Merrigan, Hibbard, Robinson, Shott, Howie. Some know me better than others but if it helps, there it is Well, I know we sit (albeit at the North end)in So Cal and I have been reminded and suggested to that it’d be nice if I can get the race to say at least Coalinga or somewhere furhter North…then we’d have a bit more true mid-state. Alas, HQ, the awesome venue, my $15K investment and home is here. We can and most likely will move it, I just needed 2 years to get the event built. And truly, I just love cross and I want this to be more of a gathering and a challenge for all…drink, eat, throw down and bring home some dough. I’ve always felt this race, given the depth of Nor Cal cross and the emergence of So Cal cross and the vastness of our state would make for an epic weekend…it did last year, it will this year and I’ve got the $$ on the table. Understand this really is less about me swaying an event that favors So Cal…I luv putting it on and check it…titles and jerseys awarded for individuals (Nor Cal one most all the races last year!), big cash….whew! We’ll come further North, Gern, come visit and I promise to deliver a world class event. I’ll buy your first round….Cheers!

Last year a fairly small contingent of Nor Cal Racers accepted the challenge and made the trek to B’Field, myself included. It was a wicked cool event! I’ll be there again this coming January trying to earn points for the Nor Cal squad. Look gang… the only reason So Cal took the trophy last year was because they outnumbered the Nor Cal squad about 3 to 1. There’s no doubt Nor Cal is the class of Cali CX… so show up and prove it once and for all!

I came down to Bakersfield with a friend last year to represent NorCal. I have to say that Sam put on a solid race. A little mud, some wicked run-ups, a beer garden… I only hope the guy doesn’t run out of fries this year.

Borrow your parents car, hop a freight train, carpool, do whatever it takes…… Make the trip south, you won’t regret it. The whole North v. South is just a good friendly marketing jab. Sam really put one together last year. He had it all in one event… A beer tent, great food vendors, one sweet course complete with two separate leg burning run ups. Plus we got to race in Bakersfield. Something to tell the grand kids about someday while sitting in a rocking chair. So, Gern, don’t worry about everyone else, just load load up all the available seats in your car and head south for a weekend of fun.
